Additional learning support
At Chullora Public School, we are committed to ensuring every student is supported, included and ready to learn. We support students with disability and additional learning needs so they can participate fully in all areas of school life. A formal diagnosis is not required for a student to receive support in a mainstream classroom, and support can begin at any stage of schooling.
Our approach is inclusive, strengths-based and responsive to the diverse cultural, linguistic and learning needs of our school community.
Support that fits your child's needs
Some students require additional support to build confidence and achieve their best. We work in partnership with families to plan and provide reasonable adjustments and targeted support that meet each child’s individual needs.
Support at Chullora Public School may include:
- collaboration between teachers, support staff, families and students
- specialist support for students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D)
- differentiated and enriched programs for high potential and gifted students
- targeted small group literacy and numeracy support
- regular monitoring and review of student progress
Classroom adjustments may include:
- accessible learning environments
- assistive and digital technologies
- adjusted learning materials
- additional guidance, scaffolding or modified lesson focus
Assessment adjustments may include:
- additional time or rest breaks
- simplified or clarified language
- alternative ways to demonstrate learning (for example, oral or visual responses)
We identify the need for additional support through:
- teacher observations of learning, engagement or behaviour
- analysis of assessment data and student progress
- communication with parents and carers
Adjustments are planned collaboratively, reviewed regularly and updated as needed.child may need extra help, contact us.
